Plumbers in Fayetteville, Arkansas

A lot of Fayetteville was built between about 1940 and 1985, and a lot of the plumbing in those houses is still the plumbing they were built with. We work in Fayetteville across Washington County, from a stubborn drain to a full sewer line repair.

What the pipes are like

Plumbing in Fayetteville homes

Houses from that era often still have their original galvanized steel water lines. Galvanized pipe rusts from the inside out. Scale narrows the bore, so water pressure drops, and the water can come out discolored. None of it shows on the outside of the pipe. A section cut out during a repair tells the story, and the fix is replacing the run, not adjusting the pressure.

The sewer side is often clay or Orangeburg in the same houses. Clay pipe is laid in short sections, so the line is full of joints, and roots find joints. Orangeburg, a tar-impregnated fibre pipe, softens and goes out of round with age and can collapse. Both crack, shift and let roots in. A drain that keeps clogging after it has been cleared is often one of these lines, and the camera shows which. Depending on what it shows, the repair is a spot repair, trenchless lining, pipe bursting or a replacement.

Hard water finishes the job on water heaters. Northwest Arkansas water leaves mineral scale in tanks, and a tank that is ten or more years old with sediment, noise and a rusty drain is usually past repairing. We will tell you which side of that line yours is on. If your Fayetteville property is on septic instead of city sewer, we do the inspection and the repair for that too.
