Sewer line repair

Sewer line repair that starts with a camera, not a shovel

We find the exact break, root or sag first, then repair, reline, burst or replace the line with our own excavators.

Chapter 01

Signs the main sewer line is failing

A failing sewer line rarely announces itself with one dramatic event. It shows up as a raw sewage smell inside the house or along the foundation. As gurgling in a toilet, a sink or a floor drain when water runs somewhere else. As several drains slowing down together, or sewage coming up in the lowest drain in the house first.

Outside, watch the yard. Soggy ground or sunken grass in a line from the house to the street usually means the pipe underneath has cracked or collapsed and is letting water out into the soil. Rodent activity is another sign people miss, because rats can enter a house through a broken sewer line.

Many homes in Fayetteville and Rogers were built between the 1940s and the 1980s, and a lot of them still have clay, cast iron or Orangeburg lines under the yard. Those materials crack, scale, shift and welcome tree roots. If drains in an older house keep backing up after they have been cleared, the line is the suspect.

Camera first, then the right method for the damage

We do not dig on a hunch. We run a sewer camera through your line to identify the exact location, cause, and extent of the problem. You see what we see: the crack, the root intrusion, the sagging section or the joint that has pulled apart. That tells us how far the damage runs and how deep it sits.

From there the method follows the pipe. A single cracked section can be a spot repair. A line that is sound but worn or rooted can be relined with trenchless pipe lining (CIPP), which cures a new surface inside the old pipe without trenching the yard. A line that has collapsed or is failing along its length can be pulled out and replaced by pipe bursting, or by a full line replacement in an open trench.

When a trench is the right answer, we dig it ourselves with our own mini excavators, so there is no waiting on a separate excavation sub. A spot repair or trenchless lining can often be completed in a single day. Full line replacement may take one to two days.

Chapter 03

What the repair costs depends on the pipe, and what insurance covers

We will not quote a number over the phone for a pipe nobody has seen. The cost depends on the type of damage, the depth of the pipe, how hard the line is to reach, the length of the affected section, and the method used. After the camera, you get a clear explanation and a free labor estimate.

One thing to check before you call your insurer: standard homeowners insurance typically does not cover sewer line repair unless you have a specific sewer or service line rider. Some policies treat a sudden collapse differently from gradual wear. Read your policy, and ask us for what the camera showed so you have the footage and findings in hand.

When the work is done, the aim is a yard you can walk across and drains that run clean. Larger replacements can be spread out with GreenSky financing, subject to credit approval.

Four ways to repair a sewer line

The camera picks the method. Not the other way around.

Each method suits a different kind of damage. Here is how they compare for a typical house line in Springdale, Fayetteville, Rogers or Bentonville.

Spot repair

One cracked, offset or root-damaged section with sound pipe on both sides.

Timing
Often a single day
Digging
Small, targeted excavation

Trenchless pipe lining (CIPP)

A line that is worn, rooted or cracked but still holds its shape.

Timing
Often a single day
Digging
Minimal digging, access points only

Pipe bursting

A line too far gone to line, replaced along the same path as the old one.

Timing
Depends on length and access
Digging
Pits at each end, not a full trench

Full line replacement

A collapsed, badly bellied or Orangeburg line that has to come out.

Timing
May take one to two days
Digging
Open trench with our own excavators

Before you call your insurer

Sewer line repair is usually outside a standard homeowners policy.

Unless your policy has a sewer or service line rider, the repair is typically on you. A rider can change that, and a sudden collapse can be treated differently from gradual wear, so the wording matters. We can document what the camera shows so you are not arguing from memory.

If the symptom is a drain that clogs rather than a line that has broken, start with drain cleaning. If the problem is water, not sewage, look at leak detection. For the details of a bigger replacement, the financing page lays out the GreenSky terms, and the contact page gets the estimate started.
